Roof Installation in NJ - Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor Serving 4 Counties
Family-owned, Brick Township-based. Owner Charles Kearns has been in construction since 1978. Free roof inspections at (732) 770-3867.
Roof installation in New Jersey on a typical Ocean County home runs roughly $9,500 to $22,000 for an Owens Corning Total Protection system, depending on roof size, pitch, and tear-off complexity. Prices vary. Call (732) 770-3867 for a free written estimate. Quality Roof Pros is a family-owned roofing contractor based in Brick Township. Owner Charles Kearns has been in construction since 1978 and runs the install crew himself. As an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, we install for new builds, additions, and homes that have not seen new shingles in 20-plus years. Most installs finish in 1 to 2 working days once we are on the roof. Three days when the weather fights us or the structure is unusual. Every install is covered by a 30-year Quality Roof Pros labor warranty paired with the Owens Corning Lifetime manufacturer warranty, registered in your name during the final walkthrough. Free inspections at (732) 770-3867.
What's Included in an Owens Corning Platinum Installation
As an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, we install the Total Protection Roofing System start to finish. That isn't just shingles. Here's what goes on your roof, in order, on every install we run.
- WeatherLock or Owens Corning ice and water shield in valleys, around chimneys, and along the eaves. The spots where ice dams and wind-driven rain hit hardest.
- ProArmor or DeckDefense synthetic underlayment across the rest of the deck. Replaces the old felt that nobody should be using anymore.
- Owens Corning starter strip along the eaves and rakes. Code requires it. Plenty of cheaper installs skip it anyway.
- Duration or Duration Storm asphalt shingles. Architectural, wind-rated. You pick the color from real samples we bring with us, not a webpage swatch.
- VentSure ridge vent at the peak with matching ridge cap shingles. Lets the attic breathe.
- Aluminum drip edge along all eaves and rakes. We don't skip this. A lot of cheap installs do.
- Pipe boots, step flashing, and counter-flashing on every penetration. Where roofs leak first.
- Magnetic nail sweep at the end of the day so your tires don't pay for it later.
Our Roof Installation Process - Six Steps from Call to Done
Here's what happens, in order, when you call us for a roof install. No hidden steps. No surprise paperwork.
Free Inspection
A real roofer climbs your roof, photographs the deck and the existing shingles, and writes up findings. Not a sales pitch. We tell you when a repair is enough and when a replacement is the better long-term call.
Written Estimate
Line-item pricing in your inbox before any deposit. Material specs, labor cost, timeline, warranty terms. If something shifts mid-job, you hear about it first - not after.
Color and Material Selection
We bring real Owens Corning samples to your house. You pick from physical shingles, not website swatches. Coastal homes get a little extra time on the color choice because salt-air weathering shifts how the colors age.
Scheduling
We pick a 2-day window with you. Weather backup days are built into the calendar so a rainy Tuesday doesn't push the whole job a week.
Install Day
Crew shows up at 7 or 8 AM. Tarps your landscaping. Strips and replaces. Cleanup runs at the end of every work day. Magnetic nail sweep covers your driveway and yard when the project wraps.
Walkthrough + Warranty Registration
We register the manufacturer warranty in your name and email you the registration confirmation. If something needs adjustment, we adjust it on the spot. That's the moment your 30-year labor warranty starts.
The Owens Corning Duration Series - What We Install Most
Most installs in our area run on the Owens Corning Duration Series. Every Duration shingle uses SureNail Technology - a woven fabric strip in the nailing zone that gives the fastener something tougher than asphalt to grip. That's what unlocks the 130 mph wind warranty and 15-year algae-resistance coverage when installed by a Platinum Preferred contractor.
TruDefinition Duration
The standard architectural shingle and the bread-and-butter line on most Ocean and Monmouth County homes. SureNail Technology, 130 mph wind resistance, Class A fire rating, and the TruDefinition color platform that gives the field a sharper shadow line than basic 3-tab. Limited Lifetime manufacturer warranty.
Duration STORM
Class 4 impact-rated upgrade for hail and wind-driven debris. Same SureNail platform as Duration with an additional polymer-modified asphalt layer for impact resistance. Worth the upgrade on south-facing roofs and homes within a mile of the ocean. Some insurance carriers credit a discount for Class 4 shingles.
Duration FLEX
SBS polymer-modified version of Duration. More flexible in cold weather, better hail performance than standard Duration, and excellent for hilltop or high-exposure homes that take year-round wind.
Duration Premium & Duration Designer Colors
Heavier weight per square and a deeper color palette than standard Duration. Closer to a designer profile look without the full Berkshire price jump. Good middle option when curb appeal matters but the budget doesn't quite reach designer slate-look shingles.
Designer and Specialty
Owens Corning Berkshire designer profile costs roughly 30 percent more per square than standard Duration but copies the look of slate or wood shake without the price tag. Metal panel and standing seam available on coastal homes where the homeowner wants 50-plus-year service life. We say so when asphalt is the better value.
Salt Air, Wind, and Ice - What Coastal Roofs Need That Inland Roofs Don't
Salt air across all four counties slowly degrades cheap metal flashing and bargain fasteners. We use stainless steel or aluminum flashing on coastal homes - no galvanized, even though it costs less - and stainless ring-shank nails for the entire shingle field on homes within a mile of the ocean. The cost difference is real but small. It doubles the service life of the flashing details.
Wind ratings matter on the Jersey Shore. Hurricane-force winds aren't every-year events but they happen. Owens Corning Duration shingles carry up to 130 mph wind warranty when installed by a Platinum Preferred contractor with the right nailing pattern - six nails per shingle on coastal jobs, not the standard four. The extra two nails per shingle take an hour of crew time on a typical roof and roughly double the wind-rip resistance.
Ice and water shield in the valleys is non-negotiable on NJ roofs. Cheap installs skip it. We don't. Ice dams form along the eaves when warm attic air melts roof snow that refreezes at the gutter line. Without ice and water shield, the resulting back-up gets under the shingles and into the deck. We run the membrane along all eaves, in every valley, around every chimney, and around every penetration.
30-Year Labor Warranty + Owens Corning Lifetime Manufacturer Warranty
Every roof install we run is covered by a 30-year Quality Roof Pros labor warranty paired with the Owens Corning Lifetime manufacturer warranty. We register both in your name during the final walkthrough, the same day the magnetic nail sweep finishes. The Owens Corning Lifetime warranty covers material defects on the shingles for the life of the roof. The 30-year labor warranty covers our installation work - flashing, fasteners, ridge venting, drip edge, and the structural details that determine whether the roof keeps water out. Our Owens Corning Platinum Preferred status grants the authority to register the strongest tier of OC manufacturer warranties on the systems we install. Fewer than 1 percent of NJ roofers carry the Platinum credential. The warranty paperwork lands in your email the day the install is done. Not at some abstract future date.
